European Union help sought ...

Every citizen of the European Union has the right to
send in a request for help (or a complaint) to the European Parliament
regarding aspects of European life which the Parliament has influence over.

Matters relating to the preservation and
protection of the environment are included.

Such requests for help to the European Parliament are normally referred to as "petitions".

Subject: Internet location of European Parliament petition submission form (electronic)?

Dear Mr. Raybaut,

I was very pleased to hear from you.

A few hours after sending my first e-mail to you (on August 6th 2001) I received a message saying it was undeliverable.  Consequently, I tried to contact other EU personnel.  (A copy of the "undeliverable" message I received is given at the very end below.)

I still cannot find the European Parliament electronic petition form referred to in my first e-mail to you of August 6th 2001.

Please note that one aspect of the petition I plan to make to the European Parliament involves the ancient monument shown in the first photograph at the following www page address:
http://homepage.eircom.net/~williamfinnerty/esb-proj.htm

Leading front-page headlines on the Friday July 20th edition of The Connacht Tribune Newspaper (which is local weekly paper) claim that this project - which is being run by the State-owned Electricity Supply Board - is going ahead (exactly as planned I assume); and, that the ESB have stated that site work actually began on June 8th 2001.  As far as I know, there has not been any digging done yet in the areas shown in the photographs at the above www page.  However, it might not be long now before this actually happens: unless there is some kind of well-defined legal intervention to prevent it.

The above mentioned ESB matter is one of a number of environmental issues which I have tried to bring to the attention of the Police (and others) here in The Republic of Ireland during the past few years; but, as I have not heard anything definite from anybody regarding the monument shown directly beneath the planned ESB power line, I do not know what the present situation is regarding its future.

I look forward to hearing from you about the Internet location of the European Parliament electronic petition form - so that I can fill it in with regard to all of the local environmental issues which concern me.

While I am waiting to hear from you, I trust that you and your colleagues at the European Parliament will keep in mind what I have said above regarding the fact that there might not be much time left for preventing the ancient monument shown in the ESB page from being damaged - or COMPLETELY DESTROYED possibly - as recently happened in the case of another local site shown at the following www page:
http://homepage.eircom.net/~williamfinnerty/grange.htm

Later today, I intend to place a copy of the text of this e-mail on a www page which has easy-to-use facilities for making translations into a number of the most popular European languages.  I hope this might make it easier for you and your colleagues to help with the problems I am contacting you about.  From early tomorrow morning (Monday August 13th 2001) onwards, the translation facility I refer to in this paragraph should be available at the following www address:
http://homepage.eircom.net/~williamfinnerty/eu-help.htm

Allowing for the possibility of further e-mail delivery problems, it is also my intention to send a printed copy of this e-mail to the European Parliament tomorrow (Monday August 13th 2001) using the following address which I have taken from an EU Internet page:

Members' Activities Division

Sincerely,

Mr. William Patrick Finnerty.

Dear Mr. Raybaut,

It would be much appreciated if you could let me have the link to the site in question please - as I would like to file a petition using the electronic on-screen form that is mentioned.

Yours faithfully,

Mr. William Finnerty.
